Terms of sale

Last updated: October 27, 2026

These terms cover your purchase of AltPane from this website. They are short on purpose.

What you are buying

You pay once for a copy of AltPane 1.0.0, a file manager for macOS 11 or later, delivered as a download. There is no subscription.

The price covers the build you download. Later versions may be released; whether a later version is free or paid will be said when it is released.

Who sells it

AltPane is made and supported by the developer of AltPane.

Payments are handled by our payment provider, which acts as the merchant of record. It charges you, collects and pays any sales tax or VAT that applies, and sends your receipt. Its own terms apply to the payment.

Your rights to the software

AltPane is free software under the GNU General Public License, version 3. The license text and the complete source code are inside every download.

You may use, study, change and share it as that license allows. What you pay for is the ready-to-run build, the convenience of getting it, and our support. Paying does not add to your rights, and not paying would not remove them from copies you get elsewhere under the same license.

Refunds

You can ask for a full refund within 14 days of buying. The refund policy page has the details.

No warranty

As the GNU GPL says, the software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that it is free of errors or fits your purpose. Back up important files before you use any tool that copies, moves or deletes them.

To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim about the software is limited to the price you paid. Nothing here limits rights that the law of your country gives you as a consumer and does not allow to be limited.

Names and trademarks

AltPane is a modified version of Nimble Commander by Michael Kazakov. It is not made or endorsed by him.

"Total Commander" is a registered trademark of Christian Ghisler. We mention it only to say what the controls feel like. We are not affiliated with him. Mac and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms for future purchases. The date at the top shows when they last changed. A change does not affect a purchase you have already made.
